Our more than 45 years of experience as running shoe retailers have taught us what shoes need to be like to function biomechanically. All our LUNGE models support healthy movement of the foot, knee, and hip joints. Here are our components in detail:
Axis-aligned leg loading
Similar to a car that experiences increased tire wear when its alignment is off, the human body also experiences increased stress when joints are not loaded according to their intended use. The knee, for example, doesn't tolerate twisting movements because it's designed like a hinge. Therefore, the role of a good shoe is to allow the entire musculoskeletal system to move in a healthy way. Through our extensive experience advising runners, we've identified numerous details in shoes that offer potential for improvement. This is why our LUNGE shoes have small but significant differences compared to conventional shoes from other manufacturers. Whether it's the last on which the upper is molded, the midsole that cushions impact, the insole for comfort, or the point-elastic upper material, all these details contribute to pain-free movement.
Orthopedic groin
We use high-quality orthopedic lasts instead of simple industrial lasts. This allows us to build shoes with an organic fit that promotes biomechanically sound foot and leg positioning as well as optimal pressure distribution. This protects joints, muscles, and tendons and ensures healthy stress when walking and running.
Fully strobel shafts
Our shoes exclusively feature fully strobel-strewn uppers. This means elasticity – and therefore a better and more lasting fit – wherever the foot presses. It's a manufacturing effort that pays off.
EVA molded insole
Thanks to the latest elastomer modifications of the well-known EVA foam material, the Vivo's midsole achieves over 50 percent rebound. This translates to high running comfort thanks to lightweight yet highly resilient, fatigue-reducing materials.
PU molded insole
Our Neo model features a midsole made of highly elastic PU material. This makes it permanently elastic and delivers a unique, firm running feel.
Unique milled sole
For our Classic and Derby series, we manufacture midsoles using a proprietary 3D milling process from a single block of high-quality EVA – a world-exclusive feature. This guarantees reliable shaping to meet the highest demands.
Non-balled soles
Unlike most shoes, all our shoes have non-bulging midsoles. This means the forefoot area is flat and, thanks to its permanent elasticity, won't deform. This relieves pressure on splayfoot and prevents it from developing in the first place.
Materials tested for harmful substances
We have our materials regularly tested by accredited institutes to ensure that we produce 'clean' shoes. The upper materials adhere to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, while the sole materials are tested according to the SG standard. Therefore, all our products are completely safe with regard to their pollutant content.
Skin-friendly inner lining
The high-quality materials used in our uppers are point-elastic, extremely adaptable, and breathable. The inner lining made of fine micro-velour offers exceptional comfort and is extremely gentle on the skin.
Cold and heat insulating sole
All our insoles have excellent insulating properties thanks to their high-quality foam material. This creates both a cold and heat insulating effect, allowing for extended wear.
High grip of the outsole
Our vulcanized rubber soles are suitable for almost any surface.

All LUNGE models come standard with supportive insoles as footbeds – with different variations depending on the function. Our LUNGE Feetality 3D system insoles, by the way, fit all running shoes, comfort shoes, and sneakers and optimize their wearing comfort.
Special 3D shaping
Many of our walking shoe models come standard with our Feetality 3D system insoles – the perfect link between foot and shoe! Compared to conventional, merely deformed insoles, their contours conform better to the foot and distribute pressure evenly. Our running shoe models feature lighter insoles developed specifically for this purpose.
Foot stabilizing
Our specially developed Feetality 3D system insoles stabilize the foot for healthy leg loading. This supports a gentle walking motion from foot strike to toe-off.
Overload protection
The shape, precisely tailored to our orthopaedic lasts – especially in the midfoot area – provides protection against overloading of the arches, thus protecting the plantar fascia and preventing discomfort. Feetality 3D system insoles are also the first choice for use in shoes from other manufacturers.
Breathable & quick-drying
Our insoles have a breathable, antibacterial outer material and are quick-drying.
Low-friction surface
The combination of the upper material made from recycled PET based on corn and the allergy-free, artificial latex foam results in a low-friction surface that prevents blistering.
Prevention of exercise-related complaints
We developed all our technologies to enable you to move comfortably and without discomfort in the long term. We focus on prevention rather than cure. Our models also provide an ideal foundation for further orthotic modifications. Whether it's organic orthopedic lasts, a flat design as the basis for a healthy foot structure, or our geometry that promotes natural foot movement – our shoes feel harmonious.
